It's quite convenient for teachers to create websites by various website creators. They don't need to worry about coding and server problems. All they need to do is to arrange the layout of the pages, fill them with useful content, and click "publish". Then their websites can be seen by the world.
The process of creating a website is a big fun, but you have to think about all the factors to make the pages more engaging and user-friendly. As user interface is highly required in current Internet situation, colors, fonts, pictures, texts, and even flash, audio and video clips should be taken into consideration when doing the design. The pages should be resourceful but not overwhelming. The amount of content should be controlled strictly, and the content should be placed right in the pages.
As a teacher for the new generations, it is very important for me to keep up with the technological trend. Both teaching content and ways of teaching should be updated to meet the students' satisfaction. Though it is a big challenge, I would like to try to conquer it.
I completely agree with you about needing to keep up with technological advances that seem to come out every single day. I am constantly amazed at what kids can do with a smartphone or a computer. I think if we as teachers stick together, encourage each other and help each other whenever possible, we will be successful.

Teachers of younger generations are accustomed to advanced technological devices, while elder generations have critical and practical ideas on teaching. When these two ways of teaching are combined, it can really make a difference.
DeleteI feel the same way. As teachers we are always going to be working on keeping up-to-date with technology in order to keep our students motivated and engaged. Another benefit of having a good website is having the parents as active members of the learning community. I am mother of a nine year old and always look to the teacher's website for information on what students are doing in the class, schedules, news, pictures and everything else the teacher can give me (as a parent) to keep me informed on what is going on in the classroom.

Because this way of learning about students' performance is not popular in China. The parents prefer to meeting in person or having a talk by phones, maybe they think the teachers will feel their care and respect by these ways. But I truly think that setting up a teacher's website is quite convenient for the new-generation parents. I would like to recommend the teachers I know to try this in China.
